During the 1990s, the life of Italian handicraft practitioners was hard: it often meant travelling hundreds of kilometres in order to procure the products necessary for the realisation of a certain technique. In order to attend courses, these authentic “pioneers” were willing to cross the whole of Italy or even go abroad.

Stamperia recognised the problem and created a complete range of all the products necessary for various techniques.

It gave to retailers the opportunity to introduce into their outlets the arts of decoupage, stencilling, soap-making by ensuring that all the items needed for these techniques were readily available. And so, in addition to papers and stencils entirely designed and produced by Stamperia, there came to be added colours from America, papers from Japan, brushes from China and other indispensable accessories.

Courses

Initially the clients were more knowledgeable than the retailers, and so there arose the need to offer - beyond the product - also actual training courses for the retailers in order to be well-versed in the use of each product.

All this effort directed towards the development of handicrafts in Italy has borne unexpected fruit. In recent years, thousands of people have been able to express their manual creativity – and this has therefore become Stamperia’s primary objective.

Product research

You start with the assumption that everyone possesses creative capacities and so, if provided with the necessary means, can express his/her taste and own personality.

Consequently each product must be easily usable and must furnish a result as immediate as possible.

Stamperia deals with a vast public, from women to young ladies to children – people without specific artistic preparation and who probably use the products at home. This means that products need to be harmless and non-toxic.

The very great majority of Stamperia products are in fact non-toxic and usable in home environments.
